Sketchbomb Austin is an open invitation to local artists of all skill levels and ages to come and hang out, sketch and share your art. We'll be meeting once a month at the Spiderhouse Cafe and the evening will be a mix of sketching timed themes, "Show and Yell" -where we'll get a chance to check out eachother's work and finally, a free sketching period at the end of the night. Austin Urban Sketchers was formed as a way for artists to get together and draw our city. This group was inspired by Urban Sketchers.org, an international organization that gathers people to draw and tell the visual stories they observe on location. Artists of all levels are welcomed in the group. The group is organized by artist/instructor Laurie Mann of LZM Studio and I am available during our drawing sessions to teach, give tips and help beginners. It is my intention that we all grow and lear …
Figure drawing or lifedrawing refers to the artist working from the human figure, usually the nude. In my opinion, it is the best way to learn how to draw. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning figure drawing studios from 9:30 am to 12:30 require an RSVP. The Sunday and Monday afternoon studios are first come/first served. So, for my Tues/Wed/Thurs. studios: Please RSVP!!!! An rsvp is a commitment that you are indeed coming. If you change plans, change the rsvp ASAP, even if you are just on …

We are people who meet to be creative in nature. Our events are outings. We walk to places in nature where we break to be creative. We do not talk during our breaks, but we talk again afterwards to share our creations. We are an artsy group, not a hiking group. All who seek to create from nature are welcome, whatever your art, whether you write, draw, paint, sculpt, craft, photograph, dance, philosophize, or meditate for inspiration. Participants are expected to share from time to time, whether …
This group was started because many artists in Austin are less interested in chatting about their art (though it's loads of fun and will be part of all future meetups) and more interested in creating and selling it. The purpose of the group is to develop new venues to display and sell visual art. The people who will join this group are primarily working artists who may not make a living or work full-time at it, but have ambitions to do so or at least keep art as a major part of their lives.
This group is all about going to see stand-up, improv, and comedy in all its forms. Austin attracts some of the best touring comedians so it's time to take advantage of that.
