[Resuming again in November 2012. Thanks for your patience!] We are people who meet to be creative in nature. Our events are outings. We walk to places in nature where we break to be creative. We do not talk during our breaks, but we talk again afterwards to share our creations. We are an artsy group, not a hiking group. All who seek to create from nature are welcome, whatever your art, whether you write, draw, paint, sculpt, craft, photograph, dance, philosophize, or meditate for inspiration. P …
What is lifedrawing? It is the artistic study of the nude human figure from observation of a live model. In my opinion, it is the best way to learn how to draw. The studios I post meet at either the Dougherty Arts Center or at the Austin Visual Arts Association. Tuesday and Thursday morning figure drawing studios from 9:30 am to 12:30 require an RSVP. Wednesday afternoon studio also requires an RSVP. The Sunday afternoon, Monday evening and Thursday evening studios are first come/first served …

Austin Urban Sketchers was formed as a way for artists to get together and draw our city. This group was inspired by Urban Sketchers.org, an international organization that gathers people to draw and tell the visual stories they observe on location. Artists of all levels are welcomed in the group. The group is organized by artist/instructor Laurie Mann of LZM Studio and I am available during our drawing sessions to teach, give tips and help beginners. It is my intention that we all grow and lear …
This group was started because many artists in Austin are less interested in chatting about their art (though it's loads of fun and will be part of all future meetups) and more interested in creating and selling it. The purpose of the group is to develop new venues to display and sell visual art. The people who will join this group are primarily working artists who may not make a living or work full-time at it, but have ambitions to do so or at least keep art as a major part of their lives.

All styles are welcome too, comic art, cartoon, anime, illustration... whatever you enjoy and want to get better at! We kick things …
Welcome to Austin Laughs, a meetup dedicated to helping people in Austin connect through the healing power of laughter. This group is for artists working in painting - oil and acrylic (watercolor welcome). We will meet to share ideas, constructively critique one another's works, and to paint! We'll scout locations to organize plein air sessions, cityscape and landscape, and organize studio sessions for still life. I believe that you make the most progress as an artist when you share the creative experience with other skilled artists. See ya soon!
